Scabiosa Giga™ Blue Pincushion Flower

Scabiosa Giga™ Blue Pincushion Flower is a compact perennial with 3 inch violet blue blooms carried on wiry stems from mid spring through summer. The flowers float above a clump forming mound of finely divided, fuzzy foliage that typically reaches 12 to 20 inches tall and 12 to 15 inches wide. The generous size of each bloom gives this compact plant a bold presence in the garden.

Use Giga™ Blue along borders and edging, in rock gardens and containers, or in a cutting garden for fresh arrangements. Its tidy size makes it a natural for the front of a bed, where the blooms can be enjoyed up close. Butterflies visit the flowers, and the plant is deer resistant. It pairs beautifully with Dianthus 'Neon Star', Hemerocallis 'Happy Returns', Geranium 'Brookside', and Alchemilla mollis for a soft, cool toned planting.

Plant in full sun to part shade in well drained chalk, loam, or sand with a neutral to alkaline pH. Keep soil consistently moist during active growth, but protect plants from winter wet. Hardy in Zones 4 to 10. Deadhead to extend flowering, and cut plants back in fall. Violet blue color, large blooms, and a compact habit make Giga™ Blue an easy fit for borders and container gardens.
